Case Study

Marylia Scott Cosmetics

THEIR STORY

Marylia Scott Cosmetics earned its following the hard way: product that actually works, packaging that stops the scroll, and a brand voice that resonated with Gen Z and Millennial consumers before most beauty brands figured out how to talk to them. The brand grew up on TikTok and built real commercial momentum through influencer-driven content and a loyal community that showed up for every launch.

By the time Marylia Scott came to TLK Fusion, the online proof was there. Clean formulas, bold aesthetics, and a consumer base that was already buying. The next question was how to take all of that and translate it into the language of national retail.

THE CHALLENGE

Social proof and retail placement are two completely different conversations. A brand can have millions of views, a passionate community, and strong DTC numbers and still get passed over in a line review because the pitch wasn’t built for a buyer’s category priorities or the compliance documentation wasn’t airtight.

Marylia Scott needed more than an introduction. They needed a team that understood both sides of that equation: how to translate digital demand into the data and narrative a major retailer’s beauty buyer would respond to, and how to handle the operational realities of putting a product on CVS shelves at scale. Logistics, compliance, planogram fit, pricing architecture. None of it is optional.

THE SOLUTION

We built the retail strategy around CVS from the start. Not because it was the easiest door to open, but because it was the right fit for the brand’s consumer profile and where the opportunity was clearest. That meant doing the groundwork before a single buyer meeting was booked.

We worked directly with the Marylia Scott team to build a retail pitch grounded in performance data and real consumer demand. The pitch wasn’t a brand deck repurposed for a buyer meeting. It was a category argument, built around CVS’s existing beauty strategy, that showed exactly where Marylia Scott filled a gap and why their consumer was already walking those aisles.

From there, we facilitated direct buyer introductions and led the line review presentations. We stayed in the room through the full process, handling follow-ups, managing the back-and-forth on terms, and keeping the deal moving. Simultaneously, we provided hands-on guidance across product presentation, logistics coordination, and compliance requirements so that by the time the PO landed, the brand was fully prepared to execute.

THE RESULTS

Marylia Scott Cosmetics launched in CVS stores nationwide. What had been a brand with strong digital revenue and a passionate online community became a brand with a national physical footprint overnight. The shelf placement gave the brand access to a completely new consumer segment and a distribution scale that DTC alone could never deliver.
